Samantha KobbahDoug Ward
Samantha Kobbah is a Policy Assistant at EducationCounsel with a range of experiences in nonprofit organizations, state and local education agencies, and K-12 education. Previously, she served as a Public Policy Fellow at the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) where she led the implementation of several mayoral initiatives including efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism and to support the safety of DC students as they travel to and from school.
Samantha began her career in Cleveland, OH as a Teach for America (TFA) corps member. After spending years in the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher, Samantha transitioned into the education policy space. Since her transition, she has published work focused on culturally responsive teaching, school discipline practices and its impact on students of color, as well as diversifying teacher and leadership pipelines. Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Public Administration from American University.
