Before joining Education Counsel, Emily spent six years as a special education teacher and advocate for students with severe disabilities, working in Title I public schools across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina, a Master’s degree in Special Education with a focus on Cultural Responsiveness and Equity in Teaching from George Washington University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Advanced Educational Studies from the University of Augusta, where she concentrated on comparative education and education policy.
