She also served as Senator Mike DeWine's education and child policy staffer. She began her career on the Hill working for Congressman Jay Dickey managing his Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS-Ed) Appropriations work.

Kristin Herrmann began her career as a teacher. She taught Kindergarten in Houston, Texas as part of the 1996 Teach For America corps. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Emory University and a Master of Social Work from New York University.
